On Friday, we wrapped up a project that many homeowners do not realize is an option. Once the old pane was safely deglazed and lifted out of the opening, we scraped away the crushed butyl tape and hardened sealant down to the raw wood channel. Setting the Sealed Unit

With the rebate scraped clean and vacuumed, we placed neoprene setting blocks along the bottom ledge. These elevate the edge seal above any condensation that might settle in the lower pocket. We laid down a fresh bead of sealant, placed the double-pane glass package flush into the frame, and reattached the original wood trim stops with finish nails.

The final result looks like a brand-new installation, completely opening up the view into the backyard again.
